My car is five years old, has 91,000 miles and a transmission that does not work. The problems began more than a year ago. Nissan refuses to address the issue because it is "out of warranty." If it were just my car, I would assume that I just got a bum transmission. But, this is a pattern with Nissan. The CVT transmissions in their cars are failing.
I still owe $5,000 on my car. It would cost $3,400 to replace the transmission. I've decided not to fix it for now. So, I'm making payments on a 2,000 paperweight, while trying to find another car that works.…

I have owned Sentra's for years and it seems instead of getting better over time, they are getting worse. At 24,000 miles and right at the 2 year ownership time frame the transmission gave out. Thankfully it was still under warranty and a new transmission was installed but now I own a car that I can not trust to take on long trips. I love everything about the car but the transmission has taken the enjoyment out of driving it. Researching the issue I found that I'm not the only one that has had problems with the Nissan CVT.
